A walk-in line for registration, shipping and notary stores

December shipping, registration renewals and a notary everyone needs at once can pack a small store fast. Next Up gives every walk-in a place in line on their phone, so they can step out, run an errand, and come back when it's their turn.

How it works

1. Customers take a number from their phone

They scan the QR code at your door, type a first name, and pick what they need: vehicle registration, shipping, a notary, passport photos. No app and no account.

2. They step out and see their turn coming

Their ticket shows their place in line and the wait, and updates itself while it's open. Customers who leave can say how far away they are, and the ticket tells them when it's time to head back.

3. Agents call the next number

Whoever is free taps Call next, and the customer who's waited longest is up. Their ticket turns red and tells them it's their turn.

Ready for the busy season

December without a line out the door

When the holidays or a wave of renewals hit, customers hold their place from their car or the coffee shop instead of your sidewalk. A lobby TV board shows the numbers being helped and up next for anyone inside.

A quick pickup and a long registration

Each service has its own length, so a mailbox pickup and a registration transfer count differently in the wait customers see.

Fair, by number

Everyone gets a ticket number and is called in order, so nobody argues over who was next. Someone who doesn't come when called can be marked a no-show, and their ticket tells them how to rejoin.
Pricing

$29 a month per agent at the counter (minimum 2), or $39 a month if you run the counter alone. No sign-up fee. Free for 30 days with no card needed, and you can cancel anytime from your Billing page.

Questions

Can customers get in line before they leave home?

Yes. They see your wait on your Next Up page and get in line from anywhere. If you'd rather only take people nearby and your store is on the Next Up map, you can limit phone check-ins to within 1 to 25 miles.

What do customers have to give?

A first name and what they need. There's no place on the form for a plate number, VIN, address or ID.

How do customers know when to come back?

Their ticket updates on its own while it's open and turns red when it's their turn. With alerts on, their phone also gets a notification when they're next. On iPhone, alerts work once the page is added to the Home Screen.

What about customers without a smartphone?

Anyone signed in to your store can add them at the counter, in the order they came in, and they get a ticket number to listen for.

Is Next Up connected to the DMV or a shipping company?

No. Next Up is an independent walk-in line. It doesn't connect to the DMV or to any shipping company, so your registration and shipping work stays in the systems you use now.

Can we tell regulars when it's quiet?

Yes. Customers can follow your store for free phone alerts. On a quiet afternoon, tap Send a no-wait alert and followers hear there's no wait right now. It only goes out when a walk-in would wait 10 minutes or less, and each follower hears from you at most about once a day.

What does it cost?

$29 a month per agent at the counter (minimum 2), or $39 a month if you run the counter alone. No sign-up fee, 30 days free with no card needed, and you can cancel anytime.
