A walk-in waitlist for nail and brow salons

Walk-in clients will wait for a good tech, as long as they know how long. With Next Up they check in from their phone, choose their tech or the first one free, and see the live wait, so they can grab a coffee instead of filling your waiting chairs.

How it works

1. Clients check in from their phone

They scan the QR code at your door, type a first name, and pick a service (a gel manicure, a pedicure, a full set, eyebrow threading) and a tech, or first available. No app and no account.

2. Techs call the next client

When a station opens, the tech taps Call next and gets the client who's waited longest for them or for anyone. That client's ticket turns red.

3. The waiting area stays calm

Clients see their place in line and the wait on their phone and can step out until it's their turn. Anyone who stays can watch the lobby TV board for the numbers up next.

Their favorite tech, or the first one free

Regulars can ask for their tech; everyone else goes to whoever is free first. A client waiting for one tech never holds up the rest of the line.

"Make Ana my tech"

After a visit, a client can tap Make Ana my tech on their ticket, and next time Ana is picked for them when they check in. They can change it whenever they like.

Booked clients and walk-ins together

Take appointments in another app? While a tech is with a booked client, they go on a break in Next Up, so the line stops sending them walk-ins and the wait updates.
Pricing

$29 a month per tech taking clients (minimum 2), or $39 a month for a tech working on their own. No sign-up fee. Free for 30 days with no card needed, and you can cancel anytime from your Billing page.

Questions

Can clients pick their nail tech?

Yes. Each client chooses a tech or first available when they check in. First available is usually fastest; waiting for one tech can take longer, and clients make that call themselves.

Does Next Up book appointments?

No, it only runs your walk-in line. If you take bookings in another app, keep using it, and have a tech go on a break in Next Up while they're with a booked client.

How do clients know when it's their turn?

Their ticket updates on its own while it's open and turns red when their tech calls them. With alerts on, their phone also gets a notification when they're next and when it's their turn. On iPhone, alerts work once the page is added to the Home Screen.

What do clients need to give?

A first name and the service they want. No email, no password, and no app to download.

Can we run a rewards card?

If you want one. Turn it on in Settings, choose how many visits it takes (3 to 20) and what it earns, like $5 off a visit. Visits are counted on the client's own phone, so there are no punch cards to lose.

Can we bring in walk-ins on a slow afternoon?

Yes. Clients can follow your salon for free phone alerts. When it's quiet, tap Send a no-wait alert and followers hear there's no wait (or a short one) right now. It only goes out when a walk-in would wait 10 minutes or less, and each follower hears from you at most about once a day.

What does it cost?

$29 a month per tech taking clients (minimum 2), or $39 a month for a tech working on their own. No sign-up fee, 30 days free with no card needed, and you can cancel anytime.
