Booking a ride for your kid?
- 13 to 17: they can ride alone only on a teen account you set up (Uber: Account, then Family and teens. Lyft: Lyft Teen). It's not in every city yet. You can book their ride from your own app (in Uber: tap Where to?, then pick your teen as the rider) and follow it live.
- Under 13, or no teen account: an adult has to ride with them, even if you book it. Uber's "ride for someone else" is only for adult riders.
- Little kids need a car seat. Bring your own.
Uber's and Lyft's rules as of October 2026. Their apps have the latest.
Next Up isn't part of Uber or Lyft. We don't book, pay for or check any ride.
